THE ISSUES
-
I want Leesburg to remain a community where people can afford to live, work, and build a future. As our Town continues to grow, we need to be thoughtful about where and how that growth happens while protecting the character of the neighborhoods that make Leesburg special.
I will work to expand Leesburg’s workforce housing and pursue incentives that encourage mixed-use, walkable, and transit-adjacent development. I also support stronger protections for our historic neighborhoods against speculative tear-downs.
Growth is inevitable, but how we grow is a choice. I will continue working to make sure Leesburg grows thoughtfully, responsibly, and with the needs of our residents at the center of those decisions.
-
Protecting Leesburg’s natural environment has long been one of my priorities, and I believe the decisions we make today should prepare our Town for generations to come.
I remain committed to reaching Leesburg’s goal of 40% tree canopy coverage and strengthening our efforts to protect and expand our urban forest. I will also continue working toward converting the Town’s vehicle fleet to hybrid and electric vehicles, expanding recycling opportunities, and pursuing additional opportunities for solar energy on Town buildings.
As Leesburg grows, we also need to make sure our infrastructure keeps pace. I will advocate for the stormwater capacity and infrastructure investments necessary to meet changing climate conditions and build a more sustainable and resilient Leesburg.
-
Leesburg’s small businesses are at the heart of our local economy and an important part of what makes our Town unique. I want Town government to be a partner in their success and make it easier for entrepreneurs and small businesses to invest and grow here.
I will work to establish a true Main Street Leesburg program, move forward with the long-promised business incubator, and improve the Town’s permitting process so that opening and operating a small business in Leesburg is less burdensome.
I also want to diversify what downtown has to offer throughout the year. That includes pursuing an indoor farmers market, expanding arts and cultural opportunities, exploring a performing arts venue, and continuing to invest in community amenities, including a second dog park.
A thriving downtown benefits all of Leesburg, and I will continue working to make ours a place where businesses, residents, and visitors want to be.
-
I believe we should always be looking ahead and finding practical, creative ways to make Leesburg an even better place to live, work, and spend time.
I want to pursue a public-private partnership to bring a performing arts venue to Leesburg, creating new opportunities for arts, entertainment, and community gatherings.
I also want to modernize our downtown with public Wi-Fi and USB charging infrastructure and build out designated bike lanes connecting downtown, Ida Lee, the W&OD Trail, and our schools.
These are ambitious goals, but they are the kinds of forward-looking investments that can make an already great community even better.
